Yesterday, we took part in a sponsored sports event. We spent 10 minutes completing a high energy circuit, including: star jumps, push ups and mountain climbers. It was very hard work but we had so much fun!
We also met a paraolympic athlete who used to compete for GB. How lucky are we!
All the money we raise will go towards sports equipment for our school.
Thank you for your support!
This half term in PE we are focusing on gymnastics. We have been practicing different gymnastic body shapes, for example, pike or straddle. Here is a photograph of us practicing:
Today, we talked about counterbalance and how we could use the weight of our partner to help us control our balance in different positions.
Here are some action shots:
Our topic title this half term is ‘How did Bolton make it’s money?’
As part of our learning so far, we know that Bolton is famous for its cotton mills. On Thursday during our art lesson, we used ‘special’ pencils to sketch cotton mills.
Here are a select number of our sketches…
Well done, you all worked really hard and enjoyed your art lesson.
Welcome back to school 3L!
Today we came to school in our fancy dress for Halloween. We saw witches, skeletons, zombies and even a wolf! We took lots of pictures to remind us of Halloween 2017.
Well done 3L!
For the last two weeks we have been 1st in the school for attendance!
The first week we got 98.1% attendance and last week we got 97.8%!
WOW, keep up the good work.
This week year 3 were set a homework project linked to our work in English and topic.
The children were asked to use recycled material to create their own volcano.
So far two children have made and brought in their volcanoes. They then shared them with the class and explained how they made them!
Well done girls, you have worked very hard to make 2 fantastic volcanoes for our display!
Today our special, fury friends Bella and Lucy came to read with us again.
It was an extra special day for somebody in 3L too. Today one of our friends overcame his fear of dogs and was brave enough to take his book out and read to Bella and Lucy.
Lucy and Bella loved listening to our friend’s reading and our friend loved reading to Bella and Lucy!
How exciting for everybody to see! Well done for facing your fears and for enjoying your time with the dogs too!
Our ‘Star of the Week’ was for Lacey S
Our ‘Consistently good Behaviour’ went to Lilly Z
Well done girls!
As part of our work for National Poetry Day we read a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson called ‘The Flowers’. Some of our children learnt part of the poem and performed it during our whole school assembly.
We also wanted to link in our learning on Volcanoes, so we worked in groups to write an acrostic poem based on Volcanoes. Here is an example by Molly and Lilly Z:
Volcanoes are hills full of lava
Orange lava and red lava mixed together dripping down the side
Lava is very, very hot when it erupts
Craters help the volcano erupt
Ash clouds is where the volcano goes up to
No volcano can erupt once they are extinct
Orange lava and red lava are very hot.
This weeks ‘Star of the week’ was Harley.
Our ‘Behaviour of the week’ was Megan.
