Autumn 2! What a busy half term we have had!!

We learned about Guy Fawkes and then made a Guy, this helped us with the skill of writing instructions.

We toasted marshmellows outside on the fire pit!

We learned a new story about ‘Friendship’ linked to our topic. The story was called ‘Footprints in the snow’.

We then made a story map with pictures, changed a character and then rewrote the story.

In maths we have been learning the fact families of a number, then it got a bit trickier because we had to explain how we got to our answers using the correct vocabulary.

In PE we have been developing our skills we need for Gymnastics- balancing, rolling, moving around safely…

The teddy bear roll is one of the trickiest rolls so far- we still need a bit more practice.

We have also had fun dressing up at Halloween, ready for the Disco. AND when it was Children in Need, we had to wear spots!

At the beginning of December, Father Christmas has sent an Elf to us- his name is Eddie! Sometimes Eddie leaves us tasks to do, like write a letter to Father Christmas. But Eddie can also be a bit mischievous- take a look…

The fun in our learning doesn’t stop there- we are off to the Chill Factore very soon!

Welcome to Year 1

I hope you have enjoyed the first week back at school and in your new Year 1 class.

This year promises to be an exciting and enjoyable time, full of learning and challenges.

Our class author for this term is Julia Donaldson, we use her story of SUPERWORM to enhance your writing, along with reading lots of stories written by her.

Our topic for this half term is ‘What’s super about you?’

History: looking at how you have changed from being born until now.

Geography: identifying landmarks where we live and go to school.

Science: naming and labelling parts of the body.

Art: self portraits

Music: singing songs getting ready for harvest.

Along with PSHE, RE, PE, DT
